Two vehicles sustain considerable damage as parade participants encounter unfriendly reactions from the crowd.
During the Orpheus parade in New Orleans, two local owners'
Tesla Cybertrucks were vandalized by members of the crowd.
This incident occurred amid the celebrations, where the Cybertrucks were featured in the parade march.
Participants Joshua Hazel and Christina, who were taking part with pride, reported encountering aggressive and violent actions from some attendees.
Joshua Hazel recalled a disturbing moment when a person rushed toward his vehicle and threw Mardi Gras beads, hitting his wife in the head.
This act not only upset the couple but also caused significant damage to the Cybertruck, especially to the glass panel covering the truck’s camera area.
Christina's Cybertruck also suffered considerable damage during the parade, with reports stating that a group of people assaulted her vehicle with a heavy object.
In the aftermath, both Hazel and Christina lodged reports with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
They are now facing significant repair expenses due to the vandalism.
Mr. Hazel estimates that fixing his Cybertruck’s broken glass will cost around $360, while reapplying the aftermarket wrap could lead to an additional $7,000 in expenses.
Christina has already incurred over $2,000 to replace her Cybertruck's broken top glass and expects further costs related to her vehicle’s damaged wrap.
This incident is part of a wider trend of attacks on
Tesla vehicles and facilities across the United States, which have included vandalism, graffiti, and shooting incidents.
Recently, several
Tesla vehicles were set on fire at a service center in Las Vegas, causing extensive damage to at least five vehicles, two of which were completely engulfed in flames.
Authorities reported that these assaults involved Molotov cocktails and gunfire.
The investigations into the Las Vegas incidents are underway, led by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, in collaboration with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Former President Trump has denounced these attacks, suggesting they could be classified as acts of domestic terrorism.
