Trump says Obama 'has immunity' after Gabbard, DNI findings emerge

Former President Donald Trump suggests that a recent Supreme Court ruling may provide legal benefits to Barack Obama as accusations surrounding the Trump-Russia investigation resurface.
Former President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding presidential immunity could significantly benefit former President Barack Obama, amid ongoing allegations concerning the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

Trump characterized Obama as the 'ringleader' of what he described as the Russiagate scandal and called for a criminal investigation into Obama’s actions during his administration.

Trump's comments came in the wake of findings from the House Intelligence Committee suggesting that the intelligence community lacked concrete evidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to aid Trump's election in 2016.

However, Trump asserted that under Obama's direction, intelligence was allegedly published that portrayed a different narrative.

According to Trump, the Supreme Court's immunity ruling likely benefits Obama personally, as it protects him from criminal accountability, stating, "He owes me big."

The House Intelligence Committee’s investigation dates back to a report initially declassified by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in 2020, which examined the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) published in January 2017.

This assessment was reportedly influenced by then-CIA Director John Brennan and included the controversial anti-Trump dossier, which has since been discredited.

The committee's report indicated that the ICA was produced under unusual directives, sourced from a small team of analysts, and criticized for not being properly vetted throughout the intelligence community.

It claimed that the assessment was rushed in order to align with the transition of power to President Trump.

In response to Trump’s allegations, Obama's spokesperson labeled them as 'bizarre' and stated that such claims merit a response, reaffirming the conclusion that Russia did indeed attempt to influence the 2016 election without successfully manipulating votes.

Gabbard has expressed concerns regarding 'deep state obstacles' within the intelligence community that opposed the release of information related to the investigation into alleged collusion.

She emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability regarding intelligence processes and findings.

As political tensions escalate surrounding these allegations, the repercussions of the Supreme Court ruling, as well as the evolving narrative pertaining to the Trump-Russia investigation, remain a focal point in the ongoing discourse within American politics.
